The Hess Low Voltage Task Qualified Electrical Safety Training Presented by Rozel is designed to meet the electrical safety needs of workers who perform low-risk electrical tasks such as operating switches and breakers other basic electrical maintenance tasks. The course will reference OSHA, NFPA 70E and the Hess Comprehensive Electrical Safety Program. At the completion of this course, students will understand how to assess electrical hazards and their associated risks, devise safe work plans, know when, where and why to use shock and arc flash hazard personal protective Equipment.

Learning objectives Include but is not limited to:

• How to determine who’s qualified for the task at hand

• How to properly shutdown equipment

• How to determine if electrical work should be conducted de-energized

• How to decide if Normal Operation criteria is met and what to do if it is not

• How to open/close a switch/breaker safely

• How to incorporate human performance tools

• How to properly select risk controls methods based on the hierarchy

• Discuss flexible cords and GFCI use.

• How to determine the limited & restricted approach boundaries for electrical shock

hazards and when they are applicable.

• How to determine the arc flash boundary, incident energy and the working distance for

electrical arc flash hazards

• How to conduct a risk assessment for the work to be performed

• How to select and don the appropriate PPE for the task at hand

Electrical Safety Instructor Brian Hall (CESCP)

For over 30 years Brian Hall has been working in the electrical trade. Brian started out wiring houses and bending conduit as a teenager in his father’s contracting business, working as a journeyman electrician and maintenance supervisor for firms such as Chrysler and ALCOA. Brian has dedicated his life to electrical work and became a qualified electrical instructor by the Academy of Nuclear Training.
